Forest School Education
The Forest School Association (FSA) defines it as a long-term process of regular sessions that take place in woodland or a natural environment to foster a relationship between the learner and nature. Learners are given an opportunity to
take supported risks appropriate to the environment and to themselves.
Children do their learning outdoors in a practical and fun way. The main ethos is that education is child-led and play-based and involves learning about the unique environment around them, how to keep themselves safe, how to use tools and create things.
It is an ideal environment in which to develop innovation, problem solving, risk taking, creativity and teamwork.
How does it work?
There are two main ways that Ark Eden offers Forest School
1. Attend one of one of Ark Eden’s Forest School Play Sessions. Schools are invited to choose one of our Play-based programs.
2. Using Ark Eden Site for Forest School Sessions - Kindergartens and Schools are invited to use Ark Eden’s venue as their forest School site. They can choose to bring their class once a week/fortnight/month to the site where they can run their own Forest School sessions or ask Ark Eden to run for
them
